A Cascadians Climb July 20-21
This will be an Alpine style climb. That is, fast and light. We will head down to the Mt Adams Ranger District station on Saturday afternoon for the climbing permit, then to the Cold Springs Campground, which will be base camp. After a leisurely camp dinner and early bed time, we will depart Sunday morning at 0400 hours on the “Standard” Southwest Route, stop for breakfast at the Lunch Counter (no pun intended), then on to the summit for advanced climbers. Those not interested in, or not up to, the summit attempt will be allowed to tarry at Lunch Counter until we return. All will descend together to base camp and either return Sunday evening to Yakima, or camp one more night to recuperate first, if necessary.
Helmet, ice axe, and self arrest training required of all participants. Crampons recommended.
Cascades Volcano Pass required ($15).
Wilderness Regulations in effect, maximum party of 12.
